Why Relationships Matter in the Middle East Oil and Gas Industry

The oil and gas industry in the Middle East depends a lot on relationships and networking. Today, I will walk marketing and business development professionals in the oil and gas industry through what building sustainable relationships means.

The Three Pillars of Sustainable Relationships

According to Mark Morin, there are three main pillars to build sustainable relationships with your customer:

  • Connect: Build emotional connection between your brand and your customer.

  • Know: Know your customer; what they need, what they like, what their pain points are.

Trust: This is the most important pillar which is about earning your customer’s trust.

This applies to any brand and customer relationship, but in the oil and gas industry in particular this is one of the most effective ways to access the highest opportunities.

How Sustainable Relationships Helped Us Win a Major Project

At the company I work at, we have experienced several examples of how sustainable relationships led us to win high-value opportunities.

One of these examples was when one of the biggest projects for this client came up, and they connected with us specifically because we were nominated by another team inside their company. We won the project without even competing just because we had this sustainable relationship with our client.

From Connections to Trust: Turning Relationships into Business Growth

We earned this sustainable relationship because we connected, we understood their needs and as a result, we gained their trust.
