Have you ever worked on a report and realized that your core data or information is missing? Today, I want to share with marketing and business development professionals in the oil and gas sector a concept to help them avoid this situation.
What Does “Design with the End in Mind” Mean?
Design with the end in mind. According to Jaclyn Tanenbaum, designing with the end in mind refers to a way of thinking that ties all research planning and design decisions to what you want to include in that final research report. This means that you should think about how you want your final result to look and what data it should include.
How to Apply This Concept in Your Projects
In the company I work at, we usually use the phrase “What good looks like or what success looks like,” and we ask this question before we start working on a project so we have a clear vision of how the end result should look.
Why This Concept Is Critical in the Oil & Gas Industry
In the oil and gas sector, we need to always keep this concept in mind while working on any project, not only research projects. The industry is highly sensitive where failures can cost millions, and poor decisions can lead to significant losses.
